Okay, so I popped over, and you're thinking I'm a true stalker now and should be in that prison you "shopped" at. Is that just a cover?? :) Great story and I love that your MIL gets a kick out of it! So cute! Our wierd ornament would have to be one that I purchased while stationed in Germany. I found it at a Christmas store, in July, in Rottenburg and it was the only one I could afford but by golly I was gonna get me an authentic ornament. Other than the little German guy dressed in tights I have no idear what in the world it is supposed to be. There are all kinds of chains and things hanging from his feet. Interesting. Oh, maybe it was a guy in a German prison! Eureka! That's IT! :)

I love it Julie! One of the things that drew me to your blog was how much you remind me of one of my girlfriends--who works in corrections in Omaha, NE! She is the kindest, sweetest, softest person ever...unless she has her uniform. Then I won't mess with her! You seem like that type of lady...anyhoo...so I love love love your "odd" ornament!

I'm sitting her looking at my tree and really can't come up with anything strange or odd. The only different one would be a fish/bobber combo one with the phrase "56 kills" that I handmade to remember this awesome fishing trip my hubbie and his buddy went on at my grandparents' pond! HA!

That's a good one...you're ornament that is...very unique...can't say I have one of those :) Mine would have to be ceramic Santa plaque thing that my hubby's distant aunt gave us for our first Christmas 3 years ago. You know she grabbed it out of her re-gift pile....Thanks Aunt Gertrude!!!
(why is it ACTUALLY on our tree? Well, this is only our 3rd Christmas married so we don't have many ornaments yet....it's a space-filler - haha!)

haha that is definitely an ornament that you wouldn't expect to find on a tree lol.

I don' t know if we have any weird ones.. my husband has a lot of his mom's old ornaments.. some are different. There are these ancient AVON ornaments that weigh like 10 lbs i think haha and there is no way you can hang them from the tree or they will fall over.. but since they were in my husband's family I have to make them work some how.

They are probably ones that I have tried to make because I am not good at crafts.

Good question! This is a fun one. Well, we have an interesting assortment, but right now I think the weirdest are the ornaments that my son "makes". They are not the cute little things that kids make at daycare, although I am sure those are coming soon. The G-man likes to pick up things he finds around the house or pieces of garbage and carefully hang them on the tree. It is his special contribution I guess!

No ornaments here since we celebrate Chanukah. Still I think your ornament is really unique and has history behind it.
