Back To Reality

Spring Break was officially over at 7:30 this morning.

It’s Monday and I am looking around wondering where the time went. Seriously, the week. It flew by.

Spring Break 2009 began with a trip to the Pediatrician’s Office that resulted in this mess…..

1 ginormous bottle of gatorade [check]
Sinus infection [check]
Ear infection [check]
2 co-pays [check]
4 prescriptions [check]
4 OTC medicines [check]
Loss of sanity [hello, has anyone seen my sanity?]

Oh, I kid.

Maybe.

Thankfully the boys felt well enough to enjoy themselves in spite of the infectious cough crap and the great Spring Break Sickness of 2009. The week found them enjoying playdates, a birthday party, the Wii Fit and a great dinner at Steak & Shake followed by a fun evening at Pump Up The Fun. Oh, and I finally found Easter clothes for them both, too which was no easy task.

Can someone please explain why there are always an estimated 4,934 Easter dress choices for little girls and only 3 Easter sweater/shirt/pants offerings for boys. It’s absurd. And, as much as I liked the pink and blue sweater set at Children’s Place, lets be honest. McDaddy would have my hyde if I put our boys in this get-up for the Easter holiday, especially when I have Easter pictures taken each year which means there would be proof. Could they not have left that little bit of pink off of the sweater FORCRYINGOUTLOUD!!!!

I may or may not be a little annoyed with the whole Easter-clothes-for-boys situation.

I finally got the Wii Fit thing calibrated. My calves are hurting and so far it seems to be a lot of fun. I created this cute little profile (called a Mii) and then I happened to step onto the frazzlin’ Wii fit board.

Oh internets. I did not like what happened next. The stupid machine decided that based on my age, my weight, my gender and my body mass index that the cute little Mii I created needed a muffin top.

I! KID! YOU! NOT!

I watched it happen right before my eyes. Are you kidding me? The stupid thing won’t allow me to be fabulous even in Gameville. It was enough to make me want to throw the board and the console thing right out the window. And, you can imagine my horror when it talked to me in its condescending little board voice. Alrightythen.

Tell me, who? Designed this thing?

I have my opinion, but I’ll keep it to myself.

Ahem! That’s a first, I know.

Anyway, today it is back to the reality that is the public school system.

Early mornings.

Homework.

Pick-up line.

And everything else that goes along with my sweet little boy being in school.

The good news is that two weeks ago, I was at our local Post Office applying for passports for the boys. We are hoping to visit McDaddy sometime in May and I am crossing my fingers that the stars align and that we are able to make the trip. I will keep you posted. We are dealing with the military, so anything could happen between now and then.

We also purchased plane tickets to visit McDaddy’s sister and her family in New Hampshire in June. It will help us pass the time while McDaddy is still slaving away on his 6-month vacation.

Don’t forget to visit the Party At My Crib where I am joining thousands of other bloggers in the Ultimate Blog Party and giving away another fabulous Longaberger purse at the end of the week.

Do have yourselves a lovely week.

  • We took the kids to Steak and Shake yesterday. Where else can you feed five people for $20 where you look down to order instead of up, and there isn’t a germ-infestated play yard? (grant it, three of the five aren’t old enough to read, but still…) Also, after having two girls, it is a TOTAL change of pace buying Easter clothes for a boy. His outfit will be adorable (I found it at Children’s Place too, though not the cute vest pictured above), but I doubt McDaddy would approve. That actually crossed my mind when I chose it, made me chuckle a little.

  • I hear you on the boy Easter clothing choices. However, I lucked out this year as we will be at WDW and we are not doing dress-up Easter clothes, so I got each kid a cute outfit at Gymboree with sunglasses and hats!

Anyway, I am so glad that you got your little surprise in the mail and I hope you enjoy everything. And of course, you may blog about it! In fact, I was hoping you would so I could hear all about what you thought of everything.

Have a great week…we are back to the daily school grind, too!

Just to let you know, the outfit options for girls get a lot slimmer as they get older! It’s ridiculous! If you’re preparing your daughter for a life of work on Summer Street, then it’s not too bad….grrrr!! Yeah, what’s up with that pink? I see pink in my sleep, why would I want my boy wearing it?!? Glad your break went! Enjoy your week!

  • Alison :

A lot of people have been sick this spring. I’m glad your boys had some fun over the break anyway.

I hear you on the lack of options for little boys’ dress clothes. And shoes–usually there are only one pair of dress shoes versus dozens of darling shoes for girls.

I don’t have a Wii, but I’ve heard the Fit can be condescending. Adding a muffin top is just mean!

  • The Wii is rude!. I played Wii Fit at a friends house. My friend is about 100 pounds dripping wet. SHe played first and then when I stepped on that board thing after her, the computer groaned! IT was awful!

I think it would really be neat if y’all could get a trip to McDaddy. I’ll be praying for you!

  • Kellyn :

Why are kids ALWAYS sick with something over spring break. I don’t get it, but I hate it!

Wii Fit gives me a muffin top too, you are not alone. I hate it, but it actually makes me work a little harder.

  • I totally understand about the boy dressy clothes! The selection should get better as they get older, if that’s any consolation. On the other hand, like someone said about little girl clothes…yikes. Yes, the immodestyy is appalling as the sizes get just a little bigger. But right now? Size 3T? It rocks…that beautiful ballerina-type dress we got Grace for her b’day this month was $18 at Target!!

  • Jean :

Hope everyone is still feeling ok after that spring-break bout of yuck.

Aahh – Steak ‘n Shake is my most very favorite restaurant in the whole world. I love their steakburgers and yumtious shakes. :)

I know the kids will look sooooooo sweet in their new outfits. Save me a pic!
