Welcome to my blog. I'm Julie, a 36 year old wife and stay-at-home mom who rarely stays home. I am married to the best husband (McDaddy) a girl could ask for and I have two of the cutest little boys on the planet, Stevie (age 7) and Alex (age 4).

If you've come here looking for a daily dose of crazy, you've come to the right place.

Let’s Just Call This Things I’ve Learned!

I have little sanity and a wee bit of patience left this morning thanks to the strong will of a three-year old. For that reason, I’m just going to get down to bloggy business and hope like heck my day gets better.

What I Learned This Week is a bloggy carnival sponsored by Jo-Lynne over at Musings of a Housewife. You can learn all kinds of cool stuff over at her place on Tuesdays (and everyday for that matter). Oh, and in case you didn’t know it, she designed this place for me. She is an awesome blog designer!

Cathy from Desperately Seeking WordPress did some work on ye old blog yesterday and hopefully was able to fix the whole text-wrapping-around-pictures-and-buttons-thing, so I’m anxious to see if it works now. (Why yes, I believe it is fixed!)

I learned that I am having a difficult time staying afloat these days.

I learned that it is never a good idea to use an ink pen to open a cellophane wrapped package of soap because in all likelihood the pen will burst all over your hands.

I learned that when a gas pump offers a car-wash and secret code for the wash, one should not automatically assume the car wash is free. In fact, you may be very surprised to discover the car wash will probably cost more than $5.00.

I learned that it is never a good idea to use the automatic car-wash because your car could get scratched. (Sorry, McDaddy! I thought having the van washed would make you happy! Really, I did!)

I learned that a minivan equipped with a DVD player can be a valuable bribery tool after a shopping trip.

*wiping tears* I learned that hearing the song ‘From This Moment’ by Shania Twain as I write this post is likely to cause tears to fill my eyes because that is the song McDaddy and I danced to on our wedding day. (McDaddy, I miss you so much and there is nothing I wouldn’t give to dance with you at this moment!)

I learned that a random act of kindness from a bloggy friend whom I have never met in real  life can bring a smile to my face in the midst of my deployment angst. Thanks, Allison @ Slice Of Heaven for the box of goodies. You can’t know how special it was to open my mailbox to find the package waiting for me.

That’s all I got, folks.

Thanks for stopping by!

  • You are sooooo welcome! That is all I wanted…to bring a smile to your face during this hard time!

  • Sweet Julie,

Hang in there friend. I can hear the sadness in your post this morning. I am praying that you will have a more encouraging day from this moment on…

  • Wendy :

Well, on the upside, when the pen broke you were ready with a bar of soap in your hand… ;o)

  • (((HUGS))) to you on missing McDaddy. It’s amazing how their absence and how much you miss them at any given time can be a make or break deal for whatever else is going on that day. Hang in there!

  • Kellyn :

You sound so sad today. {{HUGS}}.

Car washes make me so nervous. We had had one break a tail light, and then fought to get them to fix it. Not a good time.

  • Hope your day is better. If I lived closer, I’d take you out for a girls night out. Can you ask someone to watch the kids so you can get out for some “me time”?

  • Aww, Allison is awesome! How very cool. I hope your day got better. I’ve had a doozie, myself.

  • Alison :

I’m sorry you’re having a tough time. It’s so hard not to have your husband with you. Hang in there!

  • Nice to “meet you” – I think this is my first time here.

At least the soap was close at hand when the pen burst!!!

  • Ooooh….sounds like kind of a tough week! I hope it gets better for you. “From This Moment On” makes me cry too. =)

  • julia :

LOL at Wendy and JanMary about the soap! This sounds like a good carnival. Sad to hear how much you’re missing McDaddy – it’s hard to miss the one you love. Take care.

  • ((((hugs)))) I’m praying for you, Julie! I’m so glad you got that special package in the mail from Allison.

  • Sorry you’re sad today. ((((((hugs)))))) Hope the kids get to feeling better too. AND hope your day did indeed get better for you. I can’t imagine how hard it must be to have your hubby gone.
    Keep your chin up. :)

    Angie

  • Jean :

I feel your pain. I’m sorry for you. Love hurts sometimes; but it’s a “good” hurt. A “bad” hurt would be betrayal I think. You have a love worth hurting for. Hang in there – live the life you’re in – reunion will be sweet – so rewarding. I love you — all 4. :o )
