Seven Things You Should Know

what-i-learned-this-week

It’s Tuesday. Know what that means?

That means it’s time for another edition of “What I Learned This Week” hosted by Jo-Lynne over at Musings of A Housewife.

And, since I’m trying to watch Dancing With The Stars multi-task while writing this post, let’s go with a nice, neat list.

1. At McDonalds, The Cinnamon melt is better than the brownie melt. (Or so I hear.)

2. When you find yourself in the local Rite-Aid trying to blow the hour and thirteen minutes it takes the pharmacy to refill your blood-pressure medicine,  you should not purchase this deodorant just because it is on sale. While you might save forty-eight cents, you will most definitely have secret traces of gel on most every. shirt. you. own.

3. I learned that you can buy Secret Scent Expressions Gel Deoderant on Amazon. (Am I the only sorry sap in the free world who didn’t know you could purchase toiletries on Amazon?)

4. When you receive daily phone-calls from a company claiming that your vehicle warranty is about to expire, you will need to be very clever in your attempt to find out the name of the company. Otherwise, the Attorney General in your state can do nothing to put a stop to the madness. If you happen to be Kristen.. the gal who called me from the number 760-204-8459  at 10:24 A.M., you should know that I will stop at nothing to get to the bottom of your company’s scam. Consider yourself warned.

5. If you are watching Dancing With The Stars while trying to compose your latest “What I Learned” post, it is a safe bet that you will either find yourself rewinding your DVR countless times OR, you will find yourself wondering why you would have attempted to do two very important things at the same time.

6. When the entire county is out of school, it is never a good idea to take your sweet boys to the germ infested play park at McDonald’s.

7. When the Easter Bunny leaves your child a toy that gets broken within seconds of opening it, you should be ready to explain how you can exchange the toy at Target for a new one. (ahem!)

There you have it.

Seven nuggets of useless information.

I say it all the time people… this blog is about so much more than just cheap entertainment.

I am right there with you on those stupid scam calls, we get them nearly everyday! Even had one guy, whose name I can’t pronounce, tell me to go to hades, only he didn’t say hades. There has got to be a way to stop them!

I will most certainly glean off your wisdom! LOL.
Blessings,
Kim

I had no idea that McDonald’s had brownie melts. I’m not sure that mine does, but I’ll give them a try…just in case.

Brownie melts…interesting. Didn’t know they had those.

I can’t blog and watch tv at the same time. I must focus on one or the other.

Of course, the Easter Bunny leaves gift reciepts! That is what I tell Boo at least.

My 10 year old son came to me with an Easter Bunny question I couldn’t explain away. In his basket was an accessory for his Nerf gun. He came to me and said ‘that’s just like the one you bought for me a long time ago and I was supposed to get it if I got good grades’. I told him I had returned the one I bought because he didn’t get the grades he was supposed to to earn it. Then he said, ‘But Mom, a few weeks ago when you asked me to get something from your desk I saw it in there. I know you are the Easter Bunny’. Busted. But I had to keep from cracking up at his next comment – ‘I know all parents are the Easter Bunny because now I have proof. But I still can’t prove anything about Santa Claus.’

I love your list. I never let my kids go to McDonald’s play area. I have major germ issues.
I ruined Easter Bunny for all of my kids this week.
Your blog cracks me up.

Don’t even get me started on the calls….But the bunny at target, who knew?
haha.

I’m with ya on thosee playgrounds–I make my kids change socks before putting their shoes back on. (I keep them in the car…my husband does NOT understand this, but I always get looks from other moms who are thinking or saying out loud “I’M GOING TO DO THAT NEXT TIME!”) Because…ewwwwww…When I had only one child, I used to make him take a bath after playing on those playgrounds. Seriously! :)

And, while we don’t do the Easter bunny around here, you can say what I tell my oldest son about Santa…”Santa doesn’t come for kids who don’t believe in him.” It worked on me, and it’s working on him! ;)

I admit…..up until a few months ago, I didn’t even know amazon.com sold anything but books. Definitely didn’t know about the toiletries being sold on there! Funny stuff!

I try to avoid McDonald’s play areas at all costs. Too gross, too germy, just plain yuck. It breaks my kids’ hearts, but I think they’ll get over it!

For a mulit-tasked post, you did an awesome!

Laughed about the little bunny gift snafu!

And I never get a real person with the warranty phone call, just a recording. They must be REALLY worried about you warranty!

;)

From one DWTS fan to another, that’s the kinda multi-tasking I can get behind! :-)

13 Kat April 14, 2009 at 12:24 pm

you’re obviously not the only one getting those calls. LOL I’m a google addict.

I loved your list this week! I had no idea about the brownie melts at McD’s.

Well I knew nothing of toiletries on Amazon, but will keep that info stored in my head for future reference. I thought you might like to know that when I pull your blog up on my web browser your little princess lady is there instead of the usual internet exploere “e”.

I also knew nothing of the brownie melts but do absolutely love the cinnamon melts. Have a great day!

Yes to the brownie melt review. I had one last night because I love the cinnamelts so very much. If you close your eyes while eating the cinnamelts you can fool yourself into believing you did not buy it at Mac Donald’s…that’s how good they are! Brownie melts..not so much….save your $1.50

18 JanMary, N Ireland April 14, 2009 at 4:16 pm

I am all about the multi-tasking!

Never bought toiletries from Amazon, and I expect McDonalds in N Ireland to start serving those Brownie Melts in about……3 years from now!

19 Alison April 14, 2009 at 4:44 pm

Who knew the Easter Bunny shops at Target and gives moms the receipt?

That’s too bad about the brownie melts. They sound like they’d be great.

20 Wendy April 14, 2009 at 6:38 pm

Brownie melts? I haven’t even heard of these! Good to know that they’re worth passing up. I’d totally be sucked in by them because I love the cinnamon melts, and who could go wrong with chocolate? Apparently, McDonalds can.

21 Terra April 15, 2009 at 10:26 pm

Brownies at McDonalds?????? SO Jealous.

Secret makes me itch.

You can buy just about everything from Amazon

and Santas gifts have been returned before- it is always tricky!
