In three short days, I will join 25 women from my church and we will make our yearly trek to Columbus, Ohio for the 2009 Women of Faith Conference. I start looking forward to the trip the day after we return home from the last one. I brought this post over from my blog on mySpace.
It was originally posted on April 28, 2008.

I arrived home from my weekend trip draggin my wagon. I was exhausted. And, I still am.
l have not unpacked.
And have two loads of laundry calling my name because they are tired of being wadded up in the basket.
But, alas the blog is calling. And the natives are restless.
My weekend in Columbus was fabulous and I enjoyed spending two days with my girlfriends. The conference was the best one yet and I enjoyed being a part of it.
While I could entertain you with our various experiences with heart monitors, urinary incontinence, the effect of salads on one particular attendee, a fight in the middle of the street (not between us of course,) the amazing power of ActiveOn or a great new way to style my hair, I guess for this particurlar blog, I will stick to the important stuff.
And, since we have a What-Happens-In-The-Van-Stays-In-The-Van agreement, it pains me to tell you that I am not at liberty to share any details of the aforementioned items.
Except maybe the one about the salads.
But some of you may be eating. And, its not lady-like to discuss such things in mixed company. So, I’ll just moverightalong.
As I found my seat in the packed Nationwide Arena, I smiled knowing that I was just one of thousands of women at the 2008 Women of Faith Conference. There’s nothing that compares with the gazillions of female hormones all packed under one roof.
An exciting time was had by all. The line-up this year…. entertained us with encouraging stories, Biblical lessons and brilliant, over-the-top musical talent.
For the first time, we were introduced to Nicole C. Mullen and her cute dancers. Those dancers did an extensive workout during the set. That girl can SANG. Her song, My Redeemer Lives is inspiring and uplifting. And on top of that, she can dance like nobody’s business.
And, in my head, I guess I can dance like that too.
Oh how I wish I could dance like her. Unfortunately, I lack the grace and energy it would require to pull that off.
I wish I were lying. But, I am not.
And then there’s Sandi Patty…

She hits notes that should not be hittable. She has an amazing awesome set of pipes.
I wish I could sing like her, but actually, I cannot sing a lick. Notatall! But a girl can wish, right? I’m still trying to figure out what my gift is.
And, if that wasn’t enough, we were treated to a performance from three-time-female-vocalist-of-the-year, Natalie Grant. She is one beautiful girl. And her pipes?
Simply outrageous.
There is something about live music. It makes me feel free.
I sometimes dream of being a singer. The kind of singer that brings a crowd to its feet. With a live band playing alongside of me. It probably a safe bet to say it won’t happen in this life.
In fact, I dreamed so much this weekend that my friend Jessica said she was going to have a shirt made for me. On the front it will say, “I am in my own little world….
and the back will say, “and the people here love me!”
Thanks Jess.
In fact, they adore me! (ahem!)
And then, there’s my new BFF – Anita Renfroe. Of all the speakers, singers and dramatists, this gal gets my vote for MVP of WOF. She is classy, sassy and downright hilarious. She is quite possibly the funniest gal on the planet.
During a break at the pre-conference on Friday morning, I mustered up the courage (not that it took much) to have a chat with her. It was our first break of the morning and the other speakers were whisked away to where-ever-they-go when they are in between sessions, but, Anita stayed in her seat. I saw the perfect opportunity to go introduce myself to this hilarious woman who I so enjoy listening to. I left my ten girlfriends sitting in their seats wondering what in the heck I was doing. I sashayed over to her and struck up a conversation.
My first question was about her wardrobe. She was wearing what appeared to be a square piece of scarf-like material, that was folded and sewn in half with holes cut out for her arms.
And it was fabulous.
She told me it was from Nordstroms and that she picked it out herself.
And it screamed sassy.
We chatted it up for ten or so minutes and I asked her if she would mind me taking a picture with her.
Because I would never let a photo-op with a famous person pass me by. She looked around for someone to take the pic and I confessed my amazing ability to snap a self-portrait. I cozied up to her (we are now BFFs afterall), and I snapped the pic. I must say my skills impress even me.

See, I told you I was good.
The entertainment was first rate.
The company was even better. These gals are a party looking for a place to happen. And this weekend, the party was in Columbus.
And, we?
Rocked. It. Out.
And shopped our hearts out.
And, I found these sassy new shoes.

Which are not the least bit comfortable. But they are oh.so.cute.
Which is proof that a girl will do anything for fashion.
And, there’s nothing better than good food, new clothes, great friends and of course, God’s infinate Grace.
