Sweet! And, yes, what is it with putting things in the mouth??? My three year old, who NEVER DID SUCH A THING BEFORE, now has her fingers in her mouth fifty times a day. And then puts small objects in her mouth, too...the same small objects we've been letting her have since SHE NEVER PUTS THINGS IN HER MOUTH.

Sorry. Didn't mean to yell. ;)

Precious boys...the last part of the race is always the hardest...hang in there until daddy gets home.

BTDT (Been There Done That) Department:

When my boys were young and I could control most aspects of their tiny existences, this is how I handled the 'media' problema (media meaning tv, dvds, computer, and gaming).
In the summer I had a points system. First, I made a list of things to do in various categories. Get your guys to help you with this list.
Pause here for some suggestions (read a book, teach the dog a trick, do art, eat a popscicle, play in the sprinkler, build a lego creation, etc. It is as varied as your imagination and full of very fun suggestions. It was a list any momma would wish she could spend her day doing!)
Secondly, assign a points system to each activity (along with an amount of time they have to spend doing the activity. I had one child who would routinely make his way down the list very quickly). Doing something outside and/or with a brother was always worth more points.Arguing and complaining and disobeying can also result in losing points.
Thirdly, there was also a list of required stuff...no points given, just had to be done prior to the reward, Clean your room, do a household chore, etc. When my kids could read, reading became a required thing...but doing it outside in the tree house or in the hammock gave them points.
Fourthly, adjustments have to be made as the system begins to work and as you the mom manipulate it to achieve your desired outcomes...ha. The poor little guys will never know for several years. They will think they are in control.
Fifthly...the points system is FUN...not a chore. Who gets 'points' for eating a fudgescicle or having a picnic or swimming?

Hope you like this suggestion. Let me know how it goes if you decide to try it!
