Talk To Me!
Some time ago, I retrieved my lap-top and typed in myspace.com. I wanted to see what all the hype was about. I quickly became addictedinterested and put a page together. And, as if that wasn’t enough, I typed in facebook.com and did the same over at their place. You wouldn’t believe the people I have reconnected with. The fellers that put those sites together deserve something.
A medal. An award. A trophy. I don’t know what, but seriously they have reunited people all over the globe.
After some snooping around (because that’s what I do on those sites!) I found a blog.
And because I don’t like to be left out, I decided to write one.
And then another. And another.
And somewhere in the midst of my writing, my mother-in-law (Hey Jean! you made my blog) learned of my ramblings and quickly became a loyal blog fan. I continued to write and continued to forward them to her. Then my lovely mother-in-law forwarded each post to her brother, her pastor’s wife and a few of her friends. Soon after, our local newspaper chose a couple of posts for publication.
And the crowd went wild.
Okay, so not really wild.
But, you get my drift.
I have to admit that I was a bit nervous about letting people that I know in real life, know about this blog thing. It wasn’t because I was afraid to broadcast my business I pretty much do that anyway, but mostly, because once you put your thoughts into print, there’s proof that you said it, thought it or did it.
I had approximately two or three readers at first. The short list was McDaddy, my mother-in-law and my friend Becky who has full appreciation for my OCD and my twisted sense of humor.
As much as I enjoy writing, I also enjoy helping people. I say it all the time – this blog is about so much more than entertainment. In a sense, I consider my blog a service. My blog is where I dump all of the nonsense that is rolling around in my head and believe me there are days that I could go on for days.. In other words, the things I write on my blog is the same stuffI talk to “the girls” about. If you were ever sitting here in central command (the big, blue bloggy chair that happens to be my favorite blogging spot) during girl’s night you would hear some of these same topics.
In a much longer and louder format, of course.
I type fast.
But, I talk even faster.
And so, if you were here, and I was going off on one of my tangents, it might be a challenge for you to keep up with me. Lucky for you, I keep it short and sweet here at the blog. (ahem!) I guess that’s why you hear a lot about the things that are really important to me – my marriage, my kids, my opinions, my unhealthy relationship with the TV and my quirks.
Oh yes. Me and the Quirks? We got along fabulously!
When I started blogging, it was simply a stress reliever. It helped me keep a running record of my boys’ dids and shoulda not dids. And, I was doing something I really enjoy.
Writing.
Six months into this bloggy thing, I feel like I have a duty. A duty to the eight of you who have become my loyal blog fans. I enjoy entertaining you and I appreciate the fact that you keep coming back day after day. I am always amazed to look at the little green box in the side bar that keeps track of the visitors that pop by my little piece of property in the blogosphere.
Unfortunately though, unless you leave me a comment, I have no idea who you are.
*Holding hands up to my mouth to make a grand announcement*
Bloggy readers, come out, come out, wherever you are.
Let’s try something new today, shall we? I’d love to hear from each and every one of you.
Stop by my comments and tell me about one of your quirks (if you have any).
To all of you faithful commenters here at Inmates, thanks so much, I appreciate you leaving me some love from time too time. To all of you lurkers, take a second and give me a shout.
Comments.
They work for me! Check out other Works For Me Wednesday posts over at We Are THAT Family!

Great story how one thing let to another. Well, I’m just someone who is passionate about something and blogs about it. I wish I was a writer and words came easy. My remedy; very short post. There’s a solution to everything, right!
You knew I’d be first. Number One quirk: I’m either a complete rule follower or not at all. Weird I know. I either do things the way they should be done (Abby’s supplements are rigidly exact) or I don’t do them at all (Checkbook register…Let the hubby handle that. I am much to busy trying to control other things).
Hey Julie! I love to sing…but I can’t remember the words! So Tim laughs, well, *enjoys* when I make up my own words or order of the verses. He tells everyone that he has plenty of CDs entitled “Songs Butchered By Pookie” (Pookie, that is me!) His favorite is Christmas Carols Butchered By Pookie. There are several volumes of that one!
So even when I am singing a simple chorus in church that I have sung hundreds or thousands of times, I still have my words with me.
Can’t think of any quirks right now. Does the fact that I want to go back to corrections sound like a quirk? Ok, that’s it. Can’t think of any more.
If I wake up during the night, I cannot go back to sleep until I roll over. It’s like I need to share that warm, snuggly pillow feeling with the other side of my head for a while.
Hi from another Julie. My quirk is I read blogs and don’t comment. But since you asked…
since we’ve know each other for so long i wont try to list anything im sure u have learned them thru the years luv u & ur blog i bet there are days the keyboard starts 2 smoke LOL
I really enjoy your blog and read it pretty much daily…usually one of the first things in the morning while sucking the caffeine out of my Diet Pepsi…as for my quirks – sorry but there are just too many to list here!!
Julie I appreciate your daily posts and when I need a little get away from the world of work, your blog is the place I turn too. Thanks for giving me an outlet each day
hi i don’t usually comment but since you asked so nicely… One of my quirks which I really don’t think is weird but my hubby does is, I can’t be in the bathroom if the toilet seat is up. The shower especially! It disgusts me to no end!
I comment more than I did when I started blogging–I used to think I had to think of the perfect thing to say. Now I just say whatever comes to mind!
One of my quirks is that I eat M&Ms or Skittles by color, one of each color at a time, starting with the color I have the most of.
Hey Julie!
My quirk is that I count everything from the number of steps I take, number of stairs I climb, number of bridges or cars I pass while driving, number of bites it takes to eat a sandwich… I count EVERYTHING. But you know, maybe that’s not a quirk, may be that’s normal. Right? Right???
Love your blog, my dear!
~Les
I actually do not have to go to your blog site to do my reading. I have your blog delivered to my email each morning and enjoy reading about all your life adventures!!! I usually would not be one to respond to a blog, but since you asked I would have to say one of my little quirks I want to share (because I have so many) would be that when eating a McDonald’s hamburger or actually any hamburger I eat all the way around the burger and leave the pickle for the last bite! Pretty tasty, huh??
I’m here! I’ve commented before I’m sure…
I also get your posts in my email. I usually read them on my phone when I have a moment. Like at a stop sign. In the bathroom (sorry). Waiting for a meeting to start. I appreciate having your posts to read because otherwise what would I do during these times???
My quirk….this is hard….do i have any? Maybe I don’t. I’ll just list some random facts about me, which are TOTALLY normal:
When I hang up my clothes, they are sorted by color, so I have the whites section which I can’t wear on a rainy day; the black section for ANY day, the red section when I’m feeling happy, etc.
When I see a new comment on my blog post, I pretend it’s a hug from a stranger. Thanks stranger!
I hate hate hate other peoples feet. I get a little sick at the thought of them. Mine are great though.
Hey Julie! Woo-Hoo! I made your Blog!! I feel very special when that happens!! :0 The book! The book! I want to read it, too; so, just sayin’…… I’m not getting any younger here.
I have lots of quirks – I like my shoes boxed and labeled.
I’m a punctuation maniac; so, if you need any assistance in that department when you write the above-mentioned book, I’m available should you desire.
Like Becky, I like to do it right – or not at all. (I use a LOT of white-out.)
I could go on and on, but I won’t. ‘Nuff said, except, “Congrats on a well-put-together bloggy page!!!”
