Thursday Thirteen – R You Ready?

June 11, 2009

in Because I Like To Ramble,Thursday Thirteen

Typically, I would launch right into my Thursday Thirteen, picking up exactly where I left off last Thursday (with The Letter Q). McDaddy is expecting to read about his beloved heap (ahem! I mean JEEP) today, so I need to at least mention that I GOT SCREWED TODAY. I was four houses away from my driveway when my minivan started to make a weird noise immediately followed by a blup. blup. blup. blup. blup.

Yep. You guessed it.

A flat tire. A nasty screw.

Four houses away.

So, I did what anyone in my position would do.

I called daddy.

To make sure it would be okay to move my van out of the middle of the friggin street.

Dang.

I drove very slowly and pulled my minivan into the neighbor’s parking spot on our street and put the sucker in park. I thanked the good Lord that I was driving about 4.2 miles an hour when I first heard the blup. blup. blup. and not driving at full throttle out the interstate in the middle of the pouring rain.

Much to the boys’ excitement, we drove the heap to church.

And it is one. rough. ride.

Especially in flip-flops.

Which was rough because, hello?

Do you remember the hypothetical situation about the very real possibility of plowing down my mailbox when if the flip-flop accidentally slips off of the brake and gets lodged between the gas and brake pedal.

Well, throw a clutch into the mix and that pretty much spells disaster between you, the jeep and the flip flop.

But we all survived.

And, thankfully the heap, as hideous as it is for a princess to drive, is a dependable ride. Which is more than I can say for my minivan right now.

If I was a bettin’ woman, I would bet that McDaddy is hoping that van gets fixed ASAP so that his beloved JEEP can be tucked safely away in his mama’s garage and away from my irresponsible flip-flop wearing feet.

But enough about the heap.

It’s Thursday Thirteen.

Without further ado, may I introduce the Letter R.

1. Renea - My middle name at birth. I have my dad to thank for the different spelling. But, have I mentioned that I am, in fact, different. Oh, and when I married McDaddy, I dropped the middle name Renea and took my maiden name as my middle name. My mama still calls me Julie Renea when I’m in trouble though.

2. Ryan Seacrest – There are so many R words I could use right here, but seriously, is this cat a cutie, or what?

Oh, and Kris Allen? Total Hottie.

So! Glad! He! Won!

Where was I? Oh, yes, the letter “R”

3. Red – As in chili-pepper red. As in my favorite color of my beloved Saturn Sky. (And yes, before you ask, I try everyday to somehow work my beloved Saturn Sky into my posts so that the powers that be at Saturn may find my sweet little blog and take pity on the gal from WV who wants a SKYREALLYREALLYBADLY and finally give me one of the suckers!)

4. RADIO -  The van in my radio is typically set too KLOVE. My favorite songs right now are There Will Be A Day, Free To Be Me and a new song by Jimmy Needham called Forgiven and Loved.

5. ROLLER SKATE – I used to love roller skating. I could shoot the duck like nobody’s business. The only thing I could shoot now is the breeze.

6. REMODELING – Me and McDaddy decided that while he was gone, I would start a remodeling project. I am currently in the first stage of the process – removing wallpaper. I think I would rather have a tooth pulled than strip wall-paper. It is such a slow, tedious process. Thankfully, my friend, Susan loaned me a wall-paper steamer. It reminds me of picking off my dead skin after a sunburn. Me and the steamer and the iPod? We are rocking it.

But I must admit we are rockin r-e-a-l-s-l-o-w.

Pictures to follow probably sometime in 2011 when I get all. of. it. down.

7. RAIN – Seriously, it has rained here in WV for about 47 days. Okay, so maybe not 47, but believe me when I tell you that it has rained WAY MORE THAN NECESSARY. Sick of the stinkin’ rain.

8. READ – I typically read when we are camping or when we are on vacation. The last book I read was this one. It was a great read.

The next book in my queue is this one.

Now, all I need is some time.

And, some time away from the laptop would help too.

9. ROYALTY – I am a self-proclaimed princess. That pretty much means that I am not REALLY a princess, although I play one in my head. I recently ordered a pair of these fabulous, royal flip flops online.

So cute. I couldn’t decide between the brown ones or the black ones, so I ordered them both. And, before you ask. Yes, I was wearing these when I drove the JEEP this evening.

10. ROME – Here is me and McDaddy pictured in Rome, Italy in a grape vineyard. We had a wonderful, lively dinner here at the vineyard.

11. RELAX - My favorite way to relax? A massage. In fact, I’d love to have one right. now.

12. RETURN – I am getting ready to return a certain hand-held device (coughpeekcough) because they are trying to charge me $79.99 because I supposedly did not return a defective device. I would like to say right here, right now, in this public forum that yes, indeed, I did return the thing and I would appreciate it right now if they would remove the charge from my credit card immediately.

13. REJOICE – Oh sweet mercy. Internets. I rejoiced after the tire on the van went flat because I had one of these waiting on my porch when I returned home from my sweet McDaddy.

If you happen to live within a 30 mile radius of my crib, you probably heard me squeal.

With delight.

Seriously, McDaddy.

I appreciate it so much. And, I promise not to whine about another thing for a very long time!!! You. are. the. man!

The “van in your radio” plays KLOVE? Because if so, you might become rich enough to buy that beloved Saturn Sky. ;0)

GREAT list, sorry about the screw in the tire, though. I wish people were more careful with that kind of stuff.

Let me tell you…you looked so good driving that JEEP last night! And I did notice the flip flops you were wearing – very nice but a little too stylish for your ride. (Just kidding!!) Hope you get your van tire fixed today.

I’m in love with a girl in a 4-wheel-drive…
