Take A Peek At What I Learned
If you came here today looking for another cute little list of funny things I learned this week, you may want to moverightalong.
Because this week’s What I Learned This Week post will probably sound like a rant.
And maybe it is.
If you stopped by Inmates last week, you may recall that I gave fair warning to a certain company who had ticked me off. If they removed the stupid $79.95 charge from my credit card, I would not bust them out.
But wouldn’t you know….
One week later, that charge is still on my credit card.
Before I bust them out, let me share some very important lessons I learned from Fed Ex last week.
When mailing a package via Federal Express, it is always better to schedule a pick-up than it is to drop the package off at the fed ex facility because when they pick the package up, it is immediately scanned into the central package database thingy.
When mailing a defective device (Peek) back to a company (Peek) and the customer service representative requests a credit card number “just in case” they do not receive (ahem) the device (Peek), you should be aware that the words – just & in & case are actually code words for so-we-can-charge-your-credit-card-even-though-the-device-will-be-delivered-to-our-warehouse-and-signed-for-because-WE-CAN! Those three words (just&in&case) should sound the alarm in your mind that, yes, indeed, you are about to get the shaft.
If a mysterious charge for $79.95 shows up on your credit card from a certain company (PEEK) you should be ready to do whatever it takes to get the charge removed, especially if you have misplaced the paperwork with the tracking number.
[Note to self: Stupid. Move.]
When mailing ANYTHING, you should put the paperwork in a safe place. This will save you time and the better part of your sanity.
Once you locate the tracking number and receive the confirmation from Federal Express that the package was not only received, BUT ALSO SIGNED FOR 27 days ago, it will take “upper management” (at least) seven days to have the charged removed.

These lessons that I speak of?
They come to you today courtesy of a company called PEEK.
The device which I speak of is a hand-held e-mailing device that allows you e-mail anywhere you have phone service. It has been so handy during this deployment.
However.
The awesomeness has been outweighed by the headache.
Thank you PEEK people for robbing me of at least five hours of my life.
When last I spoke to your people, I vowed to tell everyone I know about this incident. My rant started over on the Facebook, moved its way to Twitter and is winding down here on the blog. You can be sure that at least four people will read this today.
You are welcome.
