My Flag Page
McDaddy and I spent the weekend enriching our marriage.
Among other things.
It was a military sponsored marriage conference and it. was. perfect. Even though McDaddy and I have a wonderful marriage, I feel like we were definitely enriched. I feel like I know him a bit better than I did when we left home on Friday. One of the best parts of the marriage seminar was the DVD portion entitled Laugh Your Way To A Better Marriage.
Before arriving for the weekend, we were asked to complete a flag page.
The Laugh Your Way website says this about the flag page;
The Flag Page is an effective way to get your spouse to tell you how they feel – all without them saying a word! And because the program is so easy, positive and non-threatening, you can get them actually talking about how they feel as they discuss their Flag Page printout.
Unlike many on-line assessment programs that can ask hundreds of questions, the Flag Page is completed in 3 simple steps and can be done in as little as 5 minutes. The Flag Page is not a personality test, nor is it an assessment of your strengths and weaknesses. The Flag Page measures one thing: passion – what you truly love the most about life. And it is these fundamental feelings that motivate everyone to live out their daily lives. When you learn what truly makes your spouse tick, you will discover the key to successfully living with him/her.
The flag page is not intended to change you. It is simply a fun way to determine what motivates you. Basically, you are looking at the 56 traits that are listed and choosing whether or not you relate to those traits while noting how important they are to you. The flag page then takes the top five traits that motivate you and “scores” assessments revealing where you are most comfortable and what your talents are.
This is my flag page.

My flag page reveals that I am more interested in working than I am in relating to people. In essence, that means I would just as soon do the work myself instead of depending on someone else to do it. The talent family that influences me most are Task Talents – Julie’s large green segment indicates that she enjoys getting involved in projects and improving the task at hand. *coughPTAcough* Since she excels in the area of Tasks, she has the ability to be good at any technical work where “hands on” control of the job makes it turn out better. Julie is a natural leader as indicated by her significant orange segment. She is decisive and has no problem taking charge of running the show. Julie knows how to make things happen.
Um, do you happen to remember my post about Making Things Happen?
Based on your results, the flag page assigns you to a home country – Control Country, Peace Country, Perfect Country, or Fun Country – as well as an adopted country.
It was not a big surprise to find out that my home country is Perfect Country and my Adopted Country is Fun Country.

In other words, I will be having myself a good time once things are done perfectly to my liking.
That does not mean that I am perfect, it means that I am at my best when I am paying attention to detail and getting it done the right way. Basically, people from Perfect/Fun Country are the most creative people.
I chuckled when I read the following on my flag page… Julie is the kind of person who will always find a way to get what she wants.
And that line, my friends, sold me on The Flag Page and its contents because if you know anything at all about me, you know that I am nothing if not persistent.
The Flag Page worked for me (and McDaddy!)

I think that’s the best way to spend Valentine’s Day! And I think there are only few married people who takes time to enrich their marriage and I’m glad the two of you did.
I can highly recommend the DVD series “Laugh Your Way to a Better Marriage”! It is a FUN, non-threatening approach and you will definitely learn things about your spouse (and yourself). Our church is using those DVDs in a once-a-month format for an ongoing marriage seminar. I haven’t done the flag page yet, though–that would be interesting.

I love it!! I want a flag!
How NEAT!!!! I would LOVE — L. O. V. E. — to do this with Steve Sr. (Being that SMMJ is my eldest, I would love to get a glance at his flag, with his permission, of course – just sayin’. But not offended if it is not in the cards.) Thanks for sharing YOUR flag! I am not the LEAST BIT surprised at your flag.
!!! <3
Those conferences are fun. Glad you were able to make it and had a good time. I loved that flag page, have never seen one of those.
