Perfectly Random

in Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen things rattling around in my brain today.

1. We have only about three weeks of school left. I am looking forward to the day when I can bid adieu to the alarm clock and depend solely on my internal clock which will surely show me some mercy the first couple of weeks.

2. I am excited for a weekend get-away McDaddy and I are taking the first weekend in June. My cousin is having a beach wedding in Fort Myers Beach, Florida. I will miss our boys terribly, but I’m looking forward to some serious alone time with the sweet man I married.

3. Stevie’s school was flooded this week. Remember the stupid school consolidation? A neighboring school is closing due to flooding and the children from that school are coming to our school. And NOW? Our school was flooded. Our little town was hit pretty hard. Just driving by the devastation made me sad for the folks trying to salvage what they could. The forecast is calling for rain the rest of the week. On top of that Stevie’s first grade class was crammed into a library with another first grade class. If you’re doing the math that’s about 48 kids in a room a tad larger than a normal classroom. And, ON TOP OF THAT, his school had some serious fumes from some tile glue that was being used in his classroom. The school board did not seem concerned in the least that this situation was a safety concern to parents.

4. My grocery-gettervan is having issues. I feel bad for McDaddy because he handles all related to the vehicles. I’d like to just trade the thing off for a new Denali, but I’m pretty sure that won’t happen. Instead, I’ll just pray that McDaddy is able to find the source of the problem without too much trouble or turmoil. When your a vehicle here at the McResidence, you either shape up or get shipped out.

5. While Maksim Chmerkovskiy is the hottest dancer on Dancing With The Stars, Derek Hough is the best dancer. Because of that,  I am of the opinion that Derek and Nicole will take the trophy.

6. The little green bench in my room is covered piled way high. Still. As always. *big sigh*

7.  We had hot dogs for dinner yesterday. I was shredding cabbage for cole-slaw and shredded a piece of my thumb. It is right in the groove of my right hand thumb knuckle. It burns like fire every time I move my finger.

8. I am thankful that McDaddy helps with the laundry. I don’t tell him nearly enough how awesome he is.

9. My BFF, Becky and I meet once a week for breakfast. Our favorite place is iHop. I order the same meal every. single. week. It took me a number of weeks to remember that I prefer my eggs over medium instead of over easy.

10. The word ‘frig’ is an official word on Words With Friends. Just on a whim, I googled the word ‘Frig’ to find out its official definition. Here’s what it said…

Frig (interjection), an expression possibly based on a profanity that has been altered to reduce the objectionable characteristics. Another possible origin is that it is based on an appeal to Frigg,  a Nordic fertility goddess.

I say it all the time people. This blog is about so much more than just entertainment.

11. I have never once said ‘twenty-ten’ in reference to the year. I always say Two Thousand Ten. Am I alone, here?

12. At this very moment, Alex is running a ‘Tow Mater’ through my hair. There’s a good chance my hair will look like a rat’s nest when he’s through.

13. I shopped for mascara at Target this week. I’ve never seen so many types. Great lash. Waterproof. Stiletto. Maximum length, volume, curl, lengthen, defining, and thickening. I felt like I needed to ask for some sort of assistance to trudge through the choices. It was all very overwhelming.

How’s that for random?

Happy Thursday, y’all.

How cool – I love being first! I win! ;)
Let me just say:
My instincts were correct – and I’m not saying “frig” again. (That was the last time.) ={
You are not alone – “two-thousand-ten” here, too.
Now, that was random, for sure – and interesting! :)
Hope you are doing well after your surgery, Julie. I haven’t called because I’ve not wanted to wake you in case you are resting. But I have been praying for you and thinking about you. :)

I ABHOR twenty-ten. It’s two thousand ten. So, no… you are not alone.

The boy and I are getting out of town that weekend too… the kids will be with their other parents and I’ll be in VA Beach for a business trip, so he’s just going to meet me down there.

And mascara… Jo-Lynne turned me on to one… it’s orange… the tube that is… don’t ask me the name.
