Hormones Are An Evil Thing

in What I Learned This Week

I am sitting on the big, blue, bloggy couch watching the stinkin’ snow fall.

Oh internets, I cannot adequately express how I feel about the snow. Since I hit my thirties (which have a mind of their own) my hate for the snow has run fast and deep. And now that we live on a hill with a C-curve, or S-curve, or kiss-your-butt-curve, it’s so much worse. Add to that the fact that McDaddy is out of town one or two nights a week most weeks (give or take a night or two depending on the week) and it means that I have to risk life and limb while I drive about .4 mph down the hill in hopes of not crashing into the guard-rail beside the lake. And then, on the way up the hill, I must somehow muster the courage to give the gas heck so that the van will makes its way up the hill without hesitation. It makes me nervous just typing it. It is December 7th and to date we’ve had, oh, I don’t know, four or five days of snow. Plus, today’s high was 23 degrees with a wind-chill of 14.

If the last seven days are any indication of what winter is bringing to the party, I’m all about finding another party.

A nice warm one.

Until then, I suppose I should get on with what I learned this week.

1. My beloved iPhone has a white-noise app which is very amusing to me.

2. If you are in the market for a pillow pet, I would suggest you steer clear of Justice unless you are willing to pay five more dollars for the thing.

3. It’s amazing what two strong-willed women with a truck can accomplish.

4. The Christmas letter is a tricky thing. You see, I learned it is totally possible to read and re-read it 382 times and send it to print only to have my sweet mother-in-law find a typo minutes later. Grrr. You have no idea how much that disturbs my OCD.

5.  Hormones are an evil thing.

That is all.

What have you learned this week?

———

You can read the long detailed version of rules here, or follow these easy steps.

1. Any time this week, publish your What I Learned This Week post on your blog. AND, if you could, spread the word to your bloggy friends so more people will LINK UP for pete’s sake.

2. Within that post, please mention the What I Learned This Week carnival and link to this post here at From Inmates To Playdates.

3. Then link up with the Mr. Linky below and give a shout out about it on facebook or twitter.

4. Visit the other participants and see what they learned this week. Then leave a comment because comments are fun!

I’ve learned that a 30 something year old has NO idea what hormones can REALLY do, coming from a 40 something year old! ; )

Yeah, the 40′s get harder. You think, “What on Earth is going on? I USED to be like THIS!” But, I’m with you. Not fair, right! I feel for you with the snow, yet I’m longing for some. Not being a S. AZ girl (I grew up in N. AZ, where it DOES snow), I am not liking that it was 81 yesterday and 78 in our house. My hubby’s wearing a tank top and shorts, and I’m attempting jeans and socks (and a top too, of course) and I’m toooo hot! Unusual for us, but no likey!

I am dreading the snow this year. We had one day where is lightly flurried and I stood at the window cursing the skies and telling the snow it better not land in my yard.

If it snows Mr E has to stay home and work because the roads are just to dangerous for him to go be-bopping along in his charger. And well, lets face it I love him but has an office to go to work to for a reason.

Sorry hormones are being so horrible. I am fast approaching that 30 mark and the closer I get the more the ‘new’ hormones scare me.

I have to ask…what about strong-willed women and a truck? That begs to be asked about!?
